GUIDED IMAGINATION TECHNIQUES WITH ANGER MANAGEMENT FOR REDUCING AGGRESSIVE BEHAVIOR IN THE ELDERLY AT THE PENGUDI LUHUR BEKASI INTEGRATED CENTER

Aggressive behavior is an important issue experienced by the elderly with various factors and backgrounds that they experience. There are several previous studies that examine the aggressive behavior of the elderly both in institutions and in the community. Guided imagery techniques are one of the techniques used by institutions or agencies in dealing with aggressive behavior. However, in fact, this guided imagery technique has not been optimal in dealing with aggressive behavior, this is the basis for the development of guided imagery techniques with anger management which are the result of psychosocial therapy engineering. This study aims to test the guided imagery technique with anger management. This technique is an intervention model that integrates steps from both techniques, which are designed to reduce aggressive behavior in the elderly. The target behavior is physical attack behavior (hitting, pinching, and grabbing), swearing, and threatening. The research design used is Single Subject Design (SSD) with an A-B-A reversal design. Data collection tools using the Buss-Perry Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), interviews, documentation studies and observations. The study was conducted on three elderly subjects who had aggressive behavior. The validity test is interface validity, while the reliability test uses percent agreement. Data analysis was conducted using analysis within and between conditions. The results of this study showed a positive impact on reducing the frequency of aggressive behavior of the three subjects studied with an average decrease in frequency, namely physical attacks from 15.4 to 6.7, swearing from 23.4 to 13.7 and threatening from 19 to 12.4. These results are reinforced by the recognition of social workers at STPL Bekasi who have observed aggressive behavior before and after this intervention was given.
